Students attended the plenary sitting of the Parliament of GeorgiaIn October 1, 2010 at the initiative of International Centre for Geopolitical Studies students of Tbilisi Universities’ attended the discussion of the Draft Constitutional Law "On Introduction of the Changes and Amendments to the Constitution of Georgia" with the second hearing on the plenary sitting of the Parliament of Georgia.

The event held with the framework of the project “Students' awareness improvement in connection of changes and Amendment to the Constitution of Georgia".

On the session the Members of the Parliamentary Opposition and the Majority reiterated the agreed issues, which were reflected to the Draft Law, introduced as a consequence of the consultations. First, this is the fact that the President, after election to this position, shall not occupy the high position in his/her Party. In addition, upon appointment of the Head of the General Headquarter, conclusion of the International Agreements regarding accession to the International Organizations, regarding the issues of military operations and the territorial integrity, the President shall need the countersigns of the Prime Minister.

Upon consideration of the Constructional Law, more several important issues were outlined, which were discussed by the Members of the Parliament and the Chairman of the Parliament during the break.

At the consultations, held during the break the agreement was reached on the two principal issues of discussions. First is the decrease of the terms for the motion of non-confidence vote to the Government, whereas the term was reduced with 20 days. The parties also agreed on the issue of dismissing the Government and the necessity of submitting to the Parliament for consideration the issue of the motion of non-confidence vote to the Government after the elections of 2012. Apart from that, the issues of the legislative initiative of the President and holding extraordinary session or the sitting were agreed as well.
